Why should I consider HOPE ALIVE? There are millions of people who are suffering the effects of unresolved pregnancy losses and past childhood mistreatment in a family where there has been some major trauma or pregnancy loss. In our experience, this program takes a person further and deeper than existing child abuse or abortion programs in pregnancy centers or churches.
What can HOPE ALIVE do for me? The Hope Alive Program has been specifically designed to offer healing for child abuse, neglect and/or pregnancy loss survivors, and was developed after many years of clinical work by Philip Ney, MD, FRCP(C), FRANCZCP, RPsych of British Columbia, Canada.
How do I know if I should participate in HOPE ALIVE treatment? Where does HOPE ALIVE fit into my schedule? In the HOPE ALIVE program you will be asked to commit to thirty group sessions along with three month, six month and one year follow-up. Participants may be accepted following an evaluation process. Please contact Hope Alive for further information.
The Problem Many people feel deep damage arising from a combination of three experiences; pregnancy loss, childhood abuse and neglect. You may wonder why you or others you know are discouraged, depressed, disgruntled or dispirited. Many people feel angry without an apparent reason, suffer from disturbing dreams or wonder if there is meaning in life. Others feel they have no right to be alive, even though they are "wanted" children. They fear commitment and wonder why they are so afraid to love and to be loved. They may have difficulty relating to children or may be unable to control their feelings of neglect or rage.
Why participate in HOPE ALIVE? From history and studies on transgenerational child abuse, apparently humans will repeat history until they learn from the essential components of it's conflicts. Truth will always prevail. Eventually we will have to understand the essential conflicts, even if we must repeat the painful experience of a family. The most useful lessons are earned in our past painful history. It takes courage to examine deeply buried, painful history, especially when there are so many diversions and rationalizations that give one the impression there are painless shortcuts. HOPE ALIVE counselors receive training and certification through the International Institute of Pregnancy Loss and Child Abuse Research and Recovery (IIPLCARR). |
